Waffen-SS Totenkopf Officers Shoulder Straps

A pair of Waffen-SS Totenkopf officers stitched in type shoulder straps which have numeral cypher "1". Totenkopf Regiment was numbered 1 to 17. In October 1943, Himmler decided that Waffen-SS units and specialist personnel were adequately identified by collar patches, cuff titles and sleeve diamonds and he forbade the wearing of shoulder-strap numerals and cyphers for the duration of the war. The only exception was the Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler, whose members retained their LAH monograms. The shoulder-straps hold the rank of Utersturmfuhrer ( Lieutenant ).
