U.S. WW1 Grenade Vest
This is a mint un-issued grenade vest which was introduced in 1918 to accommodate VB rifle grenades. It is a popular misconception that these vests were never used during WW1. However this miconception is incorrect as a limited number where used by soldiers using VB launchers. The vest has an adjustable strap that went over the head and two smaller straps that tied around the back and was worn over the soldiers chest. The vest was very soldom used by U.S. troops during WW2. This example is dated May 1918, has the makers initials "H.H.& Co" and is also stamped " Inspected by John.E.Wright".
