Sonderverband 288 Sleeve Badge

This is a rare unit patch worn by members of the Sonderverband 288 ( Special Unit 288 ). The Sonderverband 288 was a fully motorized unit of the Wehrmacht who was prepared for use in Iraq, Iran and India but saw action in North Africa as part of the Afrika Korps. The unit had the strength of a regiment 2,000 men, but versatile in arms, equipment and also had Arab translators. This example is in extremely good condition in bevo with a cotton backing.
