This is the printed version of the arm shield worn by volunteers from the province of Georgia in Southern Russia serving in the Wehrmacht. Georgina had been part of the Russian Empire from 1801 to 1918,when it finally worn it's independence, which it briefly enjoyed from 1918 to 1921, when it was annexed by the Soviet Union. However in more recent history, Georgia and Russia when to war in August 2008, when Russia recognised South Ossetia and Abkhazia. Also Joseph Stalin came from Georgia.
