Early Rare Pattern Tan Rain Cape

This is the early pattern tan rain cap, which differs from the mid-war pattern by the shape of the collar and the front slash openings for the arms. The early pattern rain capes where made from a light weight oilskin. The oilskin was more fragile then the mid-war rubberised examples and tended to rip when worn, resulting in them being thrown away, making existing examples extremely rare. This example has two little rips around the collar. It is maker marked "Weinberg & Sons Ltd, Manchester" and dated 1942. It also has the original owners name stencilled "D.F. KENTRE".
