British MKIII Helmet

The MKIII helmet was first developed by the medical Research Council 1941 on behalf of the British army. The MKIII was first worn in combat by Canadian and British troops on D-Day. The MKIII helmets where used alongside the MKII for the remainder of the Second World War. In late 1945 the MKIII and MKII helmets where replaced by the MKIV helmet. MKIII and MKIV helmets where commonly called the "Turtle Shell" due to resemblance to the creature. This example is in very good condition retaining it's grass-green finish which was adopted in early1945. The helmet comes with a MKII liner dated 1945 and has the maker's code "FFL" for Fisher Foil LTD. The liner is size stamped 7.
