British MKIII Helmet

The MKIII Helmet was first developed by the medical research council in 1941 on behalf of the British army. The MKIII helmet was first worn in combat by Canadian and British troops on D-Day. The MKIII where used alongside the MKII helmet for the remainder for the Where. In 1945 The MKIV helmet was introduced and replaced the MKIII and MKII helmets. The MKIII and MKIV helmets where commonly called the "Turtle shell" due to its resemblance to the said creature. This example has dark brown ruff textured finish introduced in 1944 changing to a grass-green in early 1945. The helmet and MKII liner which has no visible makers name or date. I
