French Horizon Blue Tunic
This is a 1929 dated French horizon blue tunic which was still being worn by reservists and non-combat units in September 1939. The the Khaki uniform did not become standard issue until 1935, with the new uniform becoming universally issued in early 1940. This example is a large tunic and has the insignia of the 43rd Field Artillery Regiment. The left sleeve has 6 service strips indicated the original owner had served 3 years. The tunic has suffered with some minor mothing, mainly to the lower left side. The inside of the tunic is also stamped with the "TRAONEUEZ", which was a French film studio.
