U.S. 11th Airborne Divisional Patch

This is a two piece divisional patch of the 11th Airborne Divsion, which was first activated on 25th February 1943. The Division first saw action during the allied invasion of Sicily. During the first half of 1944 it was held in reserver in the United States. Then transferred to the Pacific Theatre of Operations and went into action at Leyte in the Philippines, but in traditional infantry role. In January 1945 the division took part in the invasion of Luzon, again employed in traditional infantry role. On 30th August 1945 the division was sent to Japan as part of the occupation Force. The division was deactivated in 1965.
