U.S. SBR Gas Mask & Haversack

This is a U.S. gas mask which dates from mid 1918 and is based on the British Small Box Respirator or SBR for short. The Americans called their gas mask, The American corrected English Box Respirator. It was very similar to the British design with slight differences to the bag and gas mask. The American gas masks had a service card detailing usage, which is included. The haversack has lift dot fasteners instead of the brass snaps. This example has dried and the lenses have completely perished. The haversack has been personalised with the original owner name, number and unit D, Company 4th Infantry Regiment.
