U.S. M1918 Pattern Bayonet

This is in fact a M1917 pattern bayonet which is a Remington factory error, making this a very scarce item. Remington stamped the ricasso with the production date 1918 instead of the pattern date. Once Remington discovered the error it was immediately corrected. Only a very small number of M1917 bayonets with the pattern date of 1918 where produced with the majority being corrected by removing the number 8. Making this example extremely rare. The scabbard also has the rarer leather frog attachment than the usual M1910 wire belt attachment. It is also maker marked "G.W." Age Restricted item. Proof of age must be provided.
