U.S. M1A1 Thompson Submachine Gun

The M1 Thompson submachine gun was introduced in 1942 and remained in production to 1945. It was developed to replace the M1928 Thompson which was not suited for mass production, especially that the lend-lease agreement between the United States, United Kingdom and Russia was getting into full swing. A more simplify production process was needed in the design of the Thompson resulting in the M1 which was further simplified leading to the M1A1. The Thompson officially remained on the U.S. inventory to 1971. This example is in excellent condition and the woodwork appears to have British army markings. The sling swivel on the butt has been repositioned which was only done on British used weapons. The lower half has also been modified to accommodate the 50 or 100 round drum magazine, which may have been done by British Special forces. Extremely usual for a M1A1 Thompson. The gun comes with a current EU/UK deactivation certificate. It does not cock or dry fire, however the cocking handle and trigger do move. U.K. Sales Only.
