U.S. M1918 Bayonet

This is in fact a M1917 bayonet, which is a Remington factory error, making this an extremely rare bayonet. Remington stamped the ricasso with the production date 1918 instead of the pattern date of 1917. Once Remington discovered the error it was immediately corrected by removing the number 8. A very small number of M1917 bayonets with the pattern date 1918 where produced and still exist today. The ricasso is marked with the ordnance flaming bomb with the "eagle inspection mark. The scabbard would have had a leather belt loop leather belt loop attached which is missing. Age Restricted item. Proof of age must be provided. This item will not be sent to a residential address.
