U.S. M1928A1 Thompson SMG ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )

For sale to customers outside the European Union Only. The Thompson was originally designed in 1918 with the aim to break the stalemate of trench warfare during WW1. However it was not finished before the war ended. The U.S. Military did not see a need for the weapon and cancelled the contract. It therefore became available to the civilian market and became notorious during the U.S. Prohibition era as the signature weapon of the various organised crime syndicates during the 1920's. In 1928 the U.S. Marine Corps officially adopted the for use during the Banana wars in central America and the Caribbean ( 1898 to 1934 ). It was also used by the U.S. Postal Inspection office and the FBI. The U.S. Army officially adopted the the M1928A1 in the late 1930's which remained in production with very slight changes to 1942, when the M1 was introduced as a war measure to save on production time. This example is a wartime produced model with a fixed rear battle sight and front hand guard. pre-war examples have an adjustable rear sight and a front pistol grip there are also stamped "Tommy Gun" on the top of the receiver.
