U.S. Private Purchase Officers M1917A1 Helmet 1st Engineer Battalion

I believe this is a private officers purchase M1917A1 helmet manufactured by ACME Protection Equipment Co Inc, Pittsburgh. ACME are still in existence and continue to manufacture protection helmets. This example is in very good condition except the the chinstrap which has torn from its chinstrap bale. The helmet is unit marked to the 1st Engineer Battalion and has the original owners initials under the ream "J.E". The top of the shell is also marked with the number "4" for the section detachment. The liner still retains its contract tag with the pentant number.
