U.S. Service Jacket

This is a in fact a M1946 pattern service jacket which is very similar to the M1944 service jacket, which where originally made in the United Kingdom for the U.S. army and was designed as a alternative jacket to the service tunic and was chosen by General Eisenhower in April 1944 and subsequently became known as the Ike Jacket. This example is in excellent condition retaining its contract label, which gives the pattern date 24th May 1946 and the manufacturing date 9th December 1946. It is also size marked 34 small and has the manufacturers name 'Kravitz Clothing Company". The lining is marked with the original owners personal service number.
