British MKIII Helmet & Camouflage Netting

The MKIII helmet was first developed by the medical research council in 1941 on behalf of the British army. The MKIII was first worn in combat by British and Canadian troops on Operation Overlord 6th June 1944 (D-Day). The helmet is commonly referred to as the turtle shell due to its resemblance to the animal. This example is in extremely nice condition with its early ruff green finish. The shell and liner are both maker marked "BMB" Briggs Motor Bodies. The shell is dated 1944 and the MKII liner is dated 1943 and size stamped 7.1/4. The helmet comes with a period helmet netting. Briggs motor Bodies was brought by Ford UK in 1953.
