British P14 Rifle ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )

For sale to customers outside the European Union Only. The P14 was introduced on 21st June 1916 and where all produced in the United States as a contract from the British government. However the rifles where not liked by British frontline troops as they found the P14 too long. It was badly balanced and cumbersome especially when the bayonet was fitted. However it continued to be used to 1918. After WW1 the rifles where removed from service and put into storage. In 1940 with the threat of a German invasion and the creation of the Home Guard, the rifles where taken out of storage and issued to Home Guard units. The British army finally declared the P14 obsolete in July 1947. This example is in very good condition, the volley sights have been removed which was done when the rifles where taken out of storage and issued to the Home Guard. The red band painted on the woodwork indicated the rifle used different calibre ammunition. However this example is in 303 calibre. It was manufactured by Winchester identified by the letter 'W" before the serial number. For Non EU Sales Only. However can be re-deactivated to the current EU specification.
