U.S. M1 Rifle Sling

This is a webbing sling which was introduced in 1944 officially replacing the WW1 era leather M1907 sling. The M1 webbing sling was used on the M1, M14 and M16 rifles and on the Browning Automatic rifle ( BAR ). This example is stamped "MRT" for Mildrew Resistant Treatment and dated February 1951.
