Deactivated U.S Mosin Nagant M1891 Rifle

This is a U.S. made Mosin Nagant M1891 rifle which was produced for the Imperial Russian government, which placed an order for over 3 million rifles in 1915. The contract was given to Remington and Westinghouse arms companies. However only 750,000 being produced and 469,951 delivered before the 1917 Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, which ended hostilities between the central powers and Russia, which was now under Bolshevik control. The Soviets cancelled the order with Remington and Westinghouse, which almost lend to bankruptcy for both firms. However the remaining 280,000 rifles which where held by Remington and Westinghouse where brought by the U.S. Army and who issued to rifles to U.S. and British Expeditionary forces of the North Russian campaign. Some of the rifles where also issued to U.S. units on the Western front as the U.S. Army where short of the M1903 rifle. This example is a Westinghouse made example and has a 1915 date which is the contract date and not the actual year of production. All the Russian contract rifles will have the Imperial eagle on the receiver. This example is deactivated to the current EU/UK specification. It does not cock or dry fire. However the bolt will open and close and the trigger moves. U.K. Sales Only.
