British General Service Beret

A good example of a G.S. beret which was first introduced in September 1943 as a wartime measure, to replace the G.S. side cap. When the G.S. beret was first introduced it was dubbed by British soldiers as 'Cap Ridiculous" as it was an unpopular item amongst the troops. However it was for universal wear and the troops got used to it. This example has had the size, date and makers details worn out and are not visible. The G.S. beret was discontinued after 1945. The cap is approximately a size 7.
