RASC 1940 Pattern Battle Dress Blouse
A 1940 pattern Battle Dress blouse with unique with immediate British and German Post-War History. The blouse is dated 1944 and is size stamped 7. The contract label has the manufacturers name as 'W.R. McBride & Co. The lining is also stamped with the War Department year letter acceptance code 'M' for 1944. The insignia consists of the Royal Army Service Corps ( RASC) and the arm of service strips of the RASC in yellow and blue. The unit shield patch is of the British Army of the Rhine ( BAOR ), formally the 21st Army Group which was renamed in 1945 as part of the army of occupation the letters 'CCG" stand for Control Commission Germany and was formed in August 1945 and disbanded in September 1949. It's first military governor was Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery 1945 to 1946 and its last military governor was General Brian Hubert Robertson 1947 to 1949. The CCG role was to oversee aspects of local government, policing, housing and transport. It consisted of British civil servants and military personal. The blouse also has the rank of a Warrant Officer 1st Class ( WO1 ) with six years service strips. It also has a award ribbon bar consisting of the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal. The blouse is in extremely nice condition.
