U.S. M1911A1 Pistol. ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )

For sale to customers outside the European Union Only. A Remington Rand made M1911A1 pistol, which has had a interesting and long service life. The serial number dates the pistol's manufacture as 1943 and is stamped with the letters "FJA" which was the inspectors acceptance stamp. FJA stands for Frank Jarvis Atwood, who was the officer in charge of Inspection and acceptance at the Rochester Ordnance depot. He was a serving army officer with the rank of colonel. The pistol is also stamped with the letters 'SA" for Springfield August, indicating the pistol was refurbished after 1945 by Springfield Armoury. The pistol is also stamped ANAD 8.72. Which. means it had a repair at Anniston Army Deport in August 1972 and would have re-blued. The M1911A1 remained in U.S. Service to 1985 when it was officially replaced by the Beretta 92F.
