U.S. Army M1940 Service Tunic
Army M1940 service tunic which has the sleeve formation badge of the 6th Army. The collar insignia is of the transportation Corps. The right breast has an winged spread eagle which was given to service personal who have just been honourably discharged from military service. The award was sometimes called the 'Ruptured Duck". The right lower sleeve has a Meritorious service unit badge and the left sleeve has four overseas service strips indicated two years overseas service. The tunic retains its contract label, which give the makers name "N.Scheer & Sons, the pattern dated 7th February 1940 and the actual manufacturing date 1st April 1941. This example is size stamped 36L.
