U.S. Army M1940 Service Tunic

A M1940 service tunic which has the rank of sergeant and the sleeve insignia of the Flying Tigers and the Army Air Force. The collar retains its disc insignia which has the branch of service for the Army Air Force. The right sleeve has five oversea service strips indicating 30 months overseas service and one three year service strip. The left breast has the winged eagle which was awarded for honourable discharge and was sometimes called the 'Ruptured Duck". The tunic retains its contract label, which gives the makers name as 'Croydon Clothes". The pattern date 2nd July 1940 and the actual manufacturing date 27th February 1942. The tunic is a size 38R.
