U.S. M1928A1 Thompson SMG ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )

For sale to customers outside the European Union Only. The Thompson was originally designed in 1918 with the aim to break the stalemate of trench warfare during WW1. However it was not finished before the war ended. The U.S. Military did not see a need of the weapon and cancelled the contract. It therefore became available to the civilian market and became notorious during the U.S. Prohibition era as the signature weapon of various organised crime syndicates during the 1920's. In 1928 the U.S. Marine Corps officially adopted the Thompson for use during the Banana wars in central America and the Caribbean ( 1898 to 1934 ). It was also used by the U.S. Postal Inspection Office and the FBI. The U.S, Army officially adopted the Thompson in the late 1930's and designated the M1928A1 which remained in production until 1942 when M1 Thompson was introduced as a war measure to speed up production. This example is a wartime produced with a fixed rear battle sight and front hand guard. Pre-war examples have adjustable rear sight and a front pistol grip. It is matching numbers and maker marked Auto-Ordnance. It was deactivated post-1995. It does not cock or dry fire. However the bolt has been cut in half with the front end welded to the breech.
