Austro-Hungarian M1898 Rast & Gasser Revolver ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )
For sale to customers outside the European Union Only. The Rast & Gasser M1898 double action revolver was the standard sidearm of the Austro-Hungarian army from 1898 to 1918. The revolver chambered an Gasser 8mm cartridge which was specifically designed for the revolver. The most distinguishing feature of the Rast & Gasser M1898 was its 8 round cylinder, compared to the six round cylinder of other revolvers of the time. 180,000 units where produced between 1898 to 1912 all of which where produced by Leopold Gasser Waffenfabrik in Vienna. Just before the outbreak of WW1 the M1898 revolver was planned to be replaced with the Roth-Steyr M1907 for the Cavalry and the Steyr M1912 for the Infantry. However due to insufficient numbers of the newer pistols. The weapon remained in service to the end of WW1. It was primary issued to officers, NCO's and machine gunners as a secondary weapon. A number of the Revolvers was acquired by Italy and Yugoslavia after WW1 and continued to use them during WW2 due to its manufacturing quality and its solid frame, which made it an extremely reliable military sidearm. This example is in good condition and matching numbers. For Non EU Sales Only. However can be re-deactivated to the current EU specification. Please email before making purchase.
