U.S. M1911A1 Pistol. ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )

One of the most iconic pistols of the 20th century the U.S. M1911 which was in service with the U.S. Military for over 70 years seeing service during WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam wars, finally being replaced with the Beretta 92F in 1985. This example is actually made of two guns the slide is Colt made and is WW1 vintage, the lower frame is Remington made and the serial number dates it to 1945. It is also stamped with the letters 'FJA" which was the inspectors acceptance stamp. FJA stands for Frank Jarvis Atwood, who was the officer in charge of the inspection and acceptance at the Rochester Ordnance depot. He was a serving army officer with the rank of colonel.
