U.S. M1 Fixed Bale Helmet

This is an M1 fixed bale front seamed helmet which would have been manufactured between July 1941 to October 1943. This example has been period over painted black with what a two letters on the front of the shell what looks like "OB" possibly for Observer. Traces of the original green finish is visible under the black over paint with the original green finish clearly visible on the inside of the shell. The chinstrap has the early blackened brass buckle with raised features and the original owners personall service number. It comes with the 2nd pattern low pressure plastic liner, which would have been produced between early 1943 to June 1944. The line is complete with all its suspension straps, sweat and neck bands and leather chinstrap. It is maker marked with a the letter 'W" above in an oval. Which identifies the maker as Westinghouse Electric Company.
