British .577 Snider 3 Band Enfield ( Obsolete Calibre )

This is 1874 dated Snider 3 band Enfield which is maker marked Birmingham Small Arms ( BSA ). The Snider Enfield was designed by an American inventor Jacob Snider and was adopted by the British army in 1866 remaining in service to 1880 when it was officially replaced with the Martini-Henry. However the British Indian army continued to use the Snider Enfield to the end of the 1890's. Sold under section 58 of the Firearms Act 1968. U.K. Sales Only.
