British MKIV .577/450 Martini-Henry ( Obsolete Calibre )
The Martini-Henry was introduced in the British army in 1871 eventually replacing the Snider Enfield by 1880. It remained in service with British colonial troops in Africa to the end of the First World War. This colonial versions where re-chambered to 303 from .577 and where known as Martini-Enfields. This example is in its original .577/450 calibre dated 1887 and retaining its British markings, including Queen Victoria's crown and cypher. However the butt does have some Nepalese markings.
