The Lee-Metford was introduced in 1888 replacing the Martini-Henry, with the British army. which called it the No1 rifle, early examples tended to wear out the barrels quickly. Enfield made No1 rifles are identically the same the only difference is the barrel internally. Early Lee-Metfords where available to buy commercially. However they had to be patent stamped with the makers name and are marked Lee-Speed. This example is an 1890's commercial version, with a modified top wood piece and was produced by Birmingham Small Arms ( BSA ). For Non EU Sales Only.
