U.S. M1 Fixed Bale Helmet & Hawley Liner
A nice example of a a M1 fixed bale helmet, which would have been produced between July 1941 to October 1943. This example retains its original finish, webbing chinstrap with early blackened brass buckle with raised features. The helmet comes with the early 1st pattern liner more commonly known as the Hawley liner. The outer edges has suffered with some fraying and the suspension straps have torn but are present including the liner's chinstrap which the leather has dried. The primary manufacturers of the first pattern liners was the McCord Radiator and Manufacturing Company, who subcontracted the production of the liners to the Hawley Products Company which lend to the nick name of the liners to Hawley liners. The inside of the shell has a visible heat number.
