German Signalman's Back Pack

This is a signalman's back pack which is similar to the M1939 tornister, but larger and is double fur covered. The bottom could be laid down as a base with side supports. The pack would contain cable reels and related signals equipment. It also has a built in leather pouch which would have held two woode poles, which joined together and would allow cable wire to be placed over obstructions. This example is in excellent condition dated 1941 and has the three letter makers code "oxy" Glasfabrik Wittekind.
