British Webley MKIV .38 Revolver ( Pre-EU/UK Deacrivation )

For sale to customers outside the European Union Only. The Webley MKIV .38 revolver was originally designed due to the War office requirement for a smaller and more compact version of the MKVI .455 which they believe was to large for modern military use. The MKIV .38 was introduced in 1932 firstly as a commercial private purchase item or for use with various commonwealth police forces. The designed was submitted to the British government who took the design to the Royal Ordnance Factory at Enfield who produced the No1 MK2 revolver, which the government accepted. The Enfield revolver closely resembled the MKIV Webley. However the parts where not interchangeable. This led Webley to take the government to court, claiming £2250 ( £190,000 in todays money ) for costs of design and researc. However they lost the case. Webley was awarded compensation by the Royal Commission of awards for inventors of £1250 ( £106,000 in todays money). This example is actually post-war made and the serial number dates it's manufacture between 1964 to 1968, it is identical to the pre-war versions. Wartime made examples have a rougher finish and are stamped "WAR Finish". The MKIV .38 Webley remained in production to 1982. For Non EU Sales Only. However can be re-deactivated to the current EU specification. Please email before making purchase.
