British Battle Dress Royal Engineers XIII Corps

This is a American made Battle Dress which was produced under the lend lease agreement between the U.S. and British government. It differs from the British 40 and 37 patterns. However it has features from both patterns. Concealed front buttons as featured on 37 pattern blouses and patch chest pockets with exposed buttons as found on 40 pattern blouses. This example is in excellent condition and retains its contract label which gives the manufacturers name "Davis Sports Wear Inc. Size stamped 10 and the year of manufacture, 4th January 1943. It retains all of its original insignia of a Sergeant belonging to the Royal Engineers attached to XIII Corps, which fought in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. It also has the arm of service strip for Royal Artillery and Royal Engineers.
