This is the early pattern tan rain cap, which differs from the mid-war pattern by the shape of the collar and the front slash openings for the arms. The early pattern rain capes where made from a light weight oilskin. The arctic overshoes where continued to be issued as a substitute to the to the a new arctic issue Shoe Pac to the end of the war.
