This is a very good example of a Light Weight gas mask which was introduced in September 1943, replacing the General Service gas mask. This example is dated 28th February 1944 and comes with its filter which is dated 25th April 1944. It also comes with a No5 ointment tin, dated January 1943. This is the rarer Canadian first pattern Despatch riders helmet which differs from the British first pattern Despatch riders helmet which was made from toughened papiermache and was known as the Pulp helmet.
