When Bundeswehr was first formed in 1955 a camouflage pattern uniform was developed, derived from the wartime splinter camouflage worn by the Wehrmacht. East German Flachentarn Zeltbahn

This is the rarest East German Zeltbahn used by the MDI and the NVA. This is the rarest camouflage pattern in a variant of Flackentarnmuster in a yellow-tan field instead of gray. It was produced in limited numbers. In some areas of thought it is believe that the yellow-tan field is actually a production error. This is a NVA field pack rarer flachentarnmuster ( area pattern) camouflage. Flachentarn was the earliest camouflage pattern worn by the MDI and NVA and was issued between 1956 to 1967. The camouflage pattern is also known as Kartoffelmuster ( Patato pattern ) and Blumentarn ( Flower pattern ). The design was influenced by WW2 Soviet era Ameoba camouflage pattern.  read more
