U.S. M1 Helmet Liner

This is a third pattern line for the r M1 helmet produced by Capac Manufacturing Company. However this example has the formation badge in the form of the Letter D within a triangle which is the symbol used by the 39th Infantry Division which formed in 1917, disbanded in 1923 and reformed in 1946. A very good example of a M4A2 flak helmet, which was introduced in June 1944 and was designed for use by Bomber crews. It was smaller and more compact than the M3 flak helmet and more suitable for wear in confined spaces such as ball turret.
