British 2nd Pattern Paratrooper Denison Smock

This is a full-zip denison smock which was only worn by Birtish paratroopers. The smock where originally made with half-zips,but was common practice for officers to modify their smocks to full-zips. They also cutt the tops of their socks to make elastic style cuffs. This example still has button cuffs. Both these modifications became standard features to Dension smocks in the early 1950's. Another modification which officers and other ranks, was to cut the tails of the buttom of their smocks. Which is the case with this example. However this did not become a standard feature. This particular smock is post-war dated 1946. However it still retains WW2 features, colour of the camouflage, brass newry buttons. The smock also has the outline of the jump qualification wings which has been removed. It size stamped "5" and was produced by "John Gordon & Co". It has one field repair to the right elbow.
