The 1st Allied Airborne was a formation which was formed by order of General Eisenhower on 2nd August 1944. The formation consisting of the 17th, 82, 101 U.S. airborne Divisions and the British 1st and 6th Airborne Divisions and the Polish 1st Parachute Brigade. The formation took part in Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bugle and Operation Varsity. It was disbanded on 20th May 1945. read more
