This is a Prussian drum hanger ( Trommelschere ). This pattern of hanger was also used during the Reichwehr period and by the early Wehrmacht. Later Wehrmacht examples do not have the crown on the eagle's head. The leather belt loop is stamped with a faint maker's name.  read more
