This is a good example of an enlisted man's M1911 campaign hat. This example has a leather cap cord, which would normally have the branch of service colour It also has a "U.S." cipher on the front which was not standard issue. The hat would normally have a hatband around the base of the crown, however this is missing, but the outline is clearly visible. read more

This example differs from the WW2 made examples by having a release catch designed to fight in fighting vehicles. The ammunition box has be re-purposed for use with M73 Green signal cartridges.
